Grass-Fed Beef For Sale

grass fed beef for sale

Huckleberry Farm is a boutique farm that raises Angus/Hereford cattle.  Our cattle are grass-fed and are not exposed to any hormones, antibiotics or GMO feed.

Our beef is sold in bulk in whole beef or half beef sizes determined by the hanging weight of the meat at the USDA-approved processor after slaughter and before cutting.

Whole Beef (whole cow)
$5.45 lb hanging weight (avg 550-700 lbs)
Half Beef (half cow)
$5.70 lb hanging weight (avg 275-330 lbs)

This price includes processing fees, basic labeling of the meat and packaging.  How you get your meat cut is entirely up to you and an order form will be provided to you so you can customize your order.  Note that from the time the carcass is hung to the time it is packaged, the actual weight will decrease from fluid loss and the removal of bones and gristle. Therefore, the meat you take home will be less than hanging weight.

We require $1,200 down payment for whole beef (a whole cow) and $600 down payment for half beef (half of a cow) once your order is placed.   The balance is due prior to pick-up or delivery.  Delivery is available for free within 20 miles of Greenwood, SC and $75 for areas within a 60 miles radius.  The balance due is figured upon actual hanging weight of the beef and the cuts of meat selected.

Basic Processing Includes:

Grass-fed beef is better for human health than grain-fed beef in ten different ways, according to the most comprehensive analysis to date. The 2009 study was a joint effort between the USDA and researchers at Clemson University in South Carolina. Compared with grain-fed beef, grass-fed beef was:

  1. Lower in total fat
  2. Higher in beta-carotene
  3. Higher in vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol)
  4. Higher in the B-vitamins thiamin and riboflavin
  5. Higher in the minerals calcium, magnesium, and potassium
  6. Higher in total omega-3s
  7. A healthier ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids (1.65 vs 4.84)
  8. Higher in CLA (cis-9 trans-11), a potential cancer fighter
  9. Higher in vaccenic acid (which can be transformed into CLA)
  10. Lower in the saturated fats linked with heart disease
